TOM JONES is humorously narrated, i keep forgetting to mention. sometimes fielding reminds me of vonnegut. or vice-versa. he uses odd syntax purposefully to be entertaining and is conscious of being an author and that people will read his text and think things.

Well I'm reading and thinking things.

so, i guess i didn't explain quite well enough what i meant here. one example of fielding's (or fielding's narrator's) syntax play is when he describes someone eating as someone transferring food materials to their insides. he does this lots of times sort of out of nowhere, and it is sort of absurd, and i like it.
